Name: | Fang Ray Shin | 方芮欣 |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Feb 28 |
Location: | Huālián Xiàn, Taiwan (Province of China) |
Fang Ray Shin, from the psychological horror click-and-point game Detention, is a seventeen year old girl from Taiwan. Living in the 60's, she grew up during Taiwan's period of martial law (colloquially known as the White Terror), the stress of which, coupled with uncertainty about her future and less than ideal home life conditions, began to affect her performance in school. She is a smart, studious, compassionate, and somewhat reserved. Ray puts on a brave face as best she can despite things continually going wrong, out of a mixture of a desire not to worry people and a sense of detachment from the world around her. It is unstated in the game, but confirmed by the creator that Ray suffers to some degree from anxiety and depression, and some might argue there's a shade of PTSD to her after the end of the game... but to say anything more than that would give away significant spoilers.

Please note that the player is not Taiwanese or Chinese and does not speak Chinese, so all Chinese characters/instances of Romanization are copied from the original game - i.e., her name is listed as being spelled 方芮欣 in-game and her high school's name was translated as Greenwood High in-game, so in the interest of not butchering the Chinese language, that's what I'm going to use.
Character is 17, mun is over 21.
